March 14 Spitfire is sold!Yes, the Spitfire is gone, and I will miss that car. I'm glad to see someone is going to enjoy it and drive it, hopefully restore it. Next up is the '74 Spitfire, with overdrive, great daily driver. February 18 Spitfire for saleYes, my 1963 Triumph Spitfire is finally for sale. I have too many cars to sell, and one of them has to go. My wife is giving up her 1972 Triumph Stag -- for sale soon -- her favorite car before she started driving the 1964 Triumph Vitesse, so I should give up one of my three cars. I drive the '59 Estate Wagon daily, and I hardly ever drive the Spitfire anymore, but it's a blast to drive.
It has a few dents that need to be fixed, nothing too bad, but at least it has nothing but surface rust: floors are clean, sills are clean, no frame rust, nothing.
The motor has 71,000 or so original miles, and could use a refresh eventually. The interior is shot, but that's cheap to do. The trans shifts well, the differential sounds good. New tires. Windshield has no cracks or stars on it.
I will miss this car, but I WILL replace it with an early Spitfire in a few years, you can count on that!
Check out eBay, item #: 190199415467 Ends Saturday, February 23rd -- coincidentally, my 42nd birthday.
November 21 Triumph Wagon almost doneWell, the wagon is finally back together, completely. Had her all wired up and ready to go, and the starter is bad. Naturally, you can't buy a Spitfire 1500 starter off the shelf, so it's off to Auto Zone for a 50 buck order, next day delivery, and off I go. I'm dropping it in on Friday, and if all goes well, I'll have my '59 Triumph Estate Wagon back on the road with a 1500, overdrive, non-synchro trans, and power front disk brakes. Let her roll!
